This is a great adventure due to the condition of the road, in contrast, there are plenty of beautiful landscapes; waterfalls; villages of tribal peoples . You have more chance to see the lives of minority peoples in mountainous areas of North-West Vietnam.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 (L,D): Hanoi - Mai Chau(140km) Home stay. 
Drive from Hanoi to Mai Chau(3.5hours). Lunch in the village of the Thai people. Afternoon, small walk around the Lac village, dinner, overnight in Thai stilt-house.
Day 2 (B,L,D): Mai Chau - Son La (190km).
Breakfast. Drive to Son La. Stop sometimes on the way for photos. Lunch on the way. Afternoon, visit the Son La French Prison and Museum. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
Day 3 (B,L,): Son La – Sapa (250km).
Drive from Son La to Sapa via Than Uyen. Lunch in Than Uyen. On the way visit some villages, take pictures. Dinner and overnight in hotel in Sapa.
Day 4 (B,L,D): Sapa Trekking - Homestay.
Walk down through the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van. The trekking route offers some challenge as you balance on the rice terraces and a small trail on the steep mountainside. The vegetation is dense as the trail leads up to a peaceful village perched on the Hoang Lien mountainside, relax by a local stream for a picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at homestay at Ta Van village.
Day 5 (B,L): Sapa – Hanoi(380km)
After breakfast drive back to Hanoi, stop some where you like on the way back. Arrive Hanoi about 5pm.
